Dogs in the hotel

Hermes Hotel Oldenburg

Holidays with your dog – no problem at the Hermes Hotel Oldenburg

At the Hermes Hotel Oldenburg, guests are welcome to bring their pets with them. That’s because we at the Hermes Hotel are enthusiastic dog lovers ourselves.

Hermes Hotel Oldenburg: Dogs are welcome here!

We are also happy to welcome your four-legged friend. Please note, however, that we are not a dog hotel.

Would you like to get away for the weekend and are looking for a relaxing holiday destination, perhaps somewhere nearby? After all, it doesn’t always have to be far away! But you don’t want to leave your four-legged friend at home, or perhaps you simply don’t have a dog sitter? Then just bring your dog with you, because dogs are very welcome at the Hermes Hotel Oldenburg.

We are also enthusiastic dog lovers and, above all, dog owners ourselves, which is why our beloved pets are welcome to stay at the hotel with us on a regular basis! Our furry friends also take on very individual and important tasks: security chief, motivational trainer or simply a source of calm. Unfortunately, we have found that cleaning the room requires more effort. We have therefore decided to charge a fee.

To ensure that not only you and your dog feel comfortable with us, please note the following:
Dogs are not allowed in the breakfast room. Please leave your four-legged friend in your hotel room while you have breakfast.
Your dog doesn’t want to be left alone? You are welcome to take a selection from the breakfast buffet on a tray to your room – we do not offer room service.

Please keep your dog on a leash at all times in the hotel. Please bear in mind that we also accommodate guests who do not have dogs.
Please bring everything you need for your dog, e.g. blanket/dog basket and food/water bowls. You know your companion best and know what they like. We do not provide these items.

Information about possible short or long walks can be obtained from reception. Many of our employees have dogs themselves and are therefore familiar with the options around the hotel and in the city. With a variety of green spaces and riverside and canal paths, there are plenty of opportunities for walking and exercise.

Oldenburg holidays with dogs – How dog-friendly is Oldenburg?

There are several beautiful “green” destinations for excursions around Oldenburg. Your four-legged friends will also enjoy plenty of space to run around. Visitors to Oldenburg will also find a few “green” corners in the city itself. For example, the 200-year-old palace gardens are located in the heart of the city. They are laid out in the style of an English landscape garden. Old trees, waterways and gentle green spaces characterise the small park.

A former city fortification runs around the city centre. The ramparts are still a reminder of times gone by. The 18-hectare Eversten Holz forest is also worth a trip into the countryside. The beautiful landscape park was created by Julius Bosse on behalf of Grand Duke Paul Friedrich August.

Holidays in Oldenburg with your dog! Whether large or small – you are always welcome at the Hermes Hotel!

A tip: there is a wonderful walkway leading directly from the hotel along the harbour promenade out of town along the Hunte river. Pass the ‘old city harbour’ and continue straight ahead to the Huntedeich.

…or in the other direction. Once around the harbour.

Of course, there is also a general leash requirement in Oldenburg, which also applies in some green spaces, e.g. during the breeding season – from April to July. But even during this time, dog lovers and owners can find designated green spaces where they can let their furry four-legged friends run free.
